Zachery Kouwe Resigns From New York Times

EXCERPT: Mr. Kouwe is one of the most visible hirings financed by the Times through a somewhat controversial fund, acknowledged by executive editor Bill Keller this past October. The fund exists to beef up BizDay's digital staff at a time when the paper is severely cutting back on other editorial personnel.

Zachery Kouwe is the son of Jean and Richard L. "Rick" Kouwe of Tampa, Florida. “Rick” Kouwe is a financial advisor with UBS Financial Services and has for many years been on the Board of Directors of the Tampa General Hospital Foundation, currently serving as secretary.

In 1978, when the Kouwe family still lived in New York's Wayne County area, Rick Kouwe became the first executive director of Lifetime Assistance, Inc., a nonprofit organization that serves adults and children with developmental disabilities in western New York State.
